24 Weeks Pregnant: How Big Is Your Baby?
At 24 weeks pregnant, your baby is developing more defined features and gaining weight steadily. Movements are becoming stronger and more noticeable, and many parents feel a deeper connection at this stage.

How Big Is Your Baby at 24 Weeks?
At 24 weeks, your baby is around the size of an ear of corn, measuring roughly 30 centimetres long from head to heel.
Your baby is continuing to grow quickly, with more fat developing under the skin.

What Is Happening at 24 Weeks Pregnant?
This is an exciting stage where your baby is becoming more active and responsive.
At 24 weeks:
- Your baby’s facial features are now well developed
- Movements are stronger, including kicks, stretches, and rolls
- The lungs are developing, although not yet fully mature
- Your baby may begin to respond to sounds and touch
- Sleep and wake cycles are starting to form
You may notice more regular patterns in your baby’s movements.
Common Symptoms at 24 Weeks

At this stage, many people feel relatively comfortable, although some physical changes become more noticeable.
You might experience:
- Stronger and more frequent baby movements
- A growing bump
- Back or pelvic discomfort
- Stretching sensations in your abdomen
- Increased appetite
Why 24 Weeks Is the Perfect Time for a 4D Scan
From around 24 weeks onwards, your baby has developed enough to show more detailed features, making this one of the best times for a 4D baby scan.
During a 4D scan, you may be able to see:
- Your baby’s face clearly
- Facial expressions such as yawning or smiling
- Movements in real time
- Your baby reacting to touch or sound
This is often one of the most memorable experiences during pregnancy, as you can see your baby in a much more lifelike way.
What to Expect from a 4D Scan
A 4D scan is similar to a standard ultrasound but uses advanced imaging to show your baby in real time.
You can expect:
- A live view of your baby moving
- Keepsake images and video clips
- A relaxed, bonding experience
- The opportunity to share the moment with loved ones
If your baby’s position makes it difficult to get clear images, a rescan may be offered to ensure you get the best possible experience.
