Your Pregnancy Timeline at a Glance

Here’s a simple breakdown of pregnancy by trimester.

First Trimester (Weeks 1–12)

This is when your baby’s major organs begin to develop. It’s also the time when many parents feel the most anxious, as changes are happening quickly but aren’t always visible yet.

Many parents choose to book an early pregnancy scan from around 6 weeks for reassurance and to see their baby’s heartbeat for the first time.

Second Trimester (Weeks 13–27)

Often known as the more comfortable stage of pregnancy, this is when your baby starts to grow rapidly and movement becomes noticeable.

This is also when you can usually find out your baby’s gender, with private gender scans available from around 16 weeks.

Third Trimester (Weeks 28–40)

In the final stage of pregnancy, your baby continues to grow, gain weight, and prepare for birth. Their position becomes important as you approach your due date.

Many parents choose a growth and presentation scan from 28 weeks onwards to check baby’s position and development.

Pregnancy Week by Week Guide

Explore each stage of your pregnancy in more detail below.

Early Weeks

These early weeks are often when parents look for reassurance. If you’re feeling unsure or would like confirmation that everything is progressing normally, an early scan can help provide peace of mind.

Mid Pregnancy

This is when your baby’s features become clearer, and you may start to feel movement. It’s also the ideal time for gender scans and bonding experiences.

Later Pregnancy

During these weeks, your baby is growing quickly and getting ready for birth. Monitoring their position and growth can help you feel more prepared for the final stages.
